Just bought a ford taurus and when over speeds of forty five the tires make whirling noise i was curious if my tires need rotated? Thanks and how much?|||Hi Chad- 4188!
Congrats on the new Taurus! I suggest bringing it to your local Quick Lane Tire %26amp; Auto Center - http://www.QuickLane.com/Tires/Rotating - so they can inspect for unusual wear patterns that may be causing the noise.

All you are dong is moving the noise. You can rotate them once or twice a year and be fine, but if they are making noises, they need to be replaced. As far as cost, if you can change a tire, you can rotate them for free. Otherwise it might cost you twenty bucks or more, unless you find a coupon, which is not uncommon.|||Chad,
As Romeo suggested, every 6k miles, or so. Good way to remember it is to rotate your tires every other oil change.
Also, as the other gentleman suggested, your current tires could simply be toast! If you are hearing whirling sounds, it could be your tires simply need to be replaced. There could be other suspension issues as well.
Take a look at your tires. Are the worn evenly? Got a least a bit of tread? If not sure, go to your local mechanic.
Also, should you need new tires I can suggest brands and models for you, and where the best deals can be found.
Careful on our Taurus! I know you want to keep it safe and driving properly.
Best,
g
