How much would it cost to have someone remove my tires from the wheel and mount on another wheel?

Was considering buying new wheels; I want the same size so I can use the tires I have now (since they're fairly new), but was curious as to how much I would be expecting to pay to have someone remove the tires from all four of the wheels I currently have and then mount/balance them on the new ones. Just a general idea would be great. How much would it cost to have someone remove my tires from the wheel and mount on another wheel?
Depends on where you go and where you live. But any where from 9.00 to 25.00 per tire. How much would it cost to have someone remove my tires from the wheel and mount on another wheel?

How big of tires and wheels can I put on my car?
yes 15 's should work on it fine your only talking about a 1/2 clearance. so you can change the profile of the tires you use on the 15's to 60 ' or 55 and they should be close to the stock size in diameter . I am guessing your car has 205-70or75 -14 on it now . so dropping the Profile a size or 2 will take it right back to the stock size and not change your speedometer readings . just double check with your tire dealer they can get you pretty close on the size you need. this is so every thing reads the same . The gas mileage will not change .
some websites that sell tires will have a vehicle specific guide as to the max tire/wheel size you could use. Just remember that if you go bigger than the stock size that your speedometer will not be accurate. How big of tires and wheels can I put on my car?
One size up will be fine but as you go bigger you'll need to up grade your suspension as well as your braking system. Also make sure to have car re aligned as well as wheels balanced.

Mismatched tires - is it ok to change 2 tires or do I have to change all 4 at once?

I am thinking of buying a used car but it has 2 front tires that are one brand, and 2 back tires that are another. I'm thinking of just getting the tires all the same brand, but then some will be newer than others, does that matter?Mismatched tires - is it ok to change 2 tires or do I have to change all 4 at once?
It depends of the car. It is important If you are buying a 4 wheel drive, has to be same tires, new by preference or used equally. If the car is front wheel drive, the newer tires should be in the front. If back wheel drive, the newer tires should be in the back. Hope it helps!

Mismatched tires - is it ok to change 2 tires or do I have to change all 4 at once?
It is better to have 4 similar tyres, but if you can't afford 4 new ones you will do no harm by driving on different tyres. Put the best ones on the front also.
I do it all the time makes no differance as long as the tires are the same size they will be just fine 4x4 FWD RWD it all works out the same in the end heck I evan do it with my big duallies and trailersMismatched tires - is it ok to change 2 tires or do I have to change all 4 at once?
as long as they are rated the same, meaning same size, width etc... you are fine. Each tire has a code looks like this

165/65r/15

just compare all 4 and make sure they are the same
All four of my tires are different name brands... and it runs great.. as long as they all in good shape, and are balanced .. it'll prob run smother with all the same, but it's good enough
well they say you should have all four the same brand, however it does not really matter, it does detract a bit from resale price, but I have ran tires of different brand, as long as they are proper size and legal!! Some vehicles will wear tires unevenly, usually tires of different brand says something about the person or maintenance of the vehicle, if the tires were rotated at proper intervals, they would all be worn out, hence all needing to be replaced at the same time. on rear wheel drive vehicles, or I guess front too, they may have done a lot of tire spinning!!- I would look close at the wear of the tires to check for possible mechanical problems or adjustments. Or did they just throw a new set on the front to hide a misalignment problem. You never know!!But yes it is OK!
It all depends on what type of drive system it has. If it is a FWD or RWD, Just as long as the two front or two rear match it's okay. If it is an AWD or 4WD all tires should have the same tread pattern.
No. It's not permissible to mix different sizes, steel braced with textile braced or cross plies with radials.

However a set of matching tyres is always the best scenario.

PS: Always put the best tyres on the front.
This type of condition is and can be an indicator of poor car maintenance due to the fact that it can show the lack of tire rotation.

you may went to ask for maintenance records.

it is a good practice to rotate your tire every other oil change.

Other than that pairing of the tires should not be a problem.
as long as the vehicle is not 4 wheel drive having mismatched tires front to rear is not going to be any trouble. however you would never want mismatched tires and the driven axle. (front wheel drive would be the front axle and rear wheel drive would be the rear axle).

Why do the big tires on huge trucks make that whirrrring sound?

They're tires, just huge. All cars have tires yet I only hear that whirrrrring sound on those trucks with huge tires. Why do the big tires on huge trucks make that whirrrring sound?
Big tires usually have big treads. If you look at your tires on your car, you will notice that the tread is either small blocks, or waves that go around the tire. On off road tires the tread is made up of big blocks so it will grip in dirt and mud. Each time one of those blocks hit the asphalt it makes a sound. Like hitting a drum. You don't notice the noise when the truck is going slow, but once it speeds up the treads are hitting the ground hard enough and fast enough that they make that whirring sound. Why do the big tires on huge trucks make that whirrrring sound?
It's all in the tread pattern, offroad designed tires as put on truck enthusiast have knobby tread which grabs onto dirt and mud and whatever else is unfortunate to get under them. On the road these hit the ground and make a pronounced noise especially at interstate speeds (and of course higher).

Car tires can make noise too, mostly run flat tires and from what I've seen a lot of Bridgestone Potenzas. You probably wouldn't notice it unless you were driving a well sound insulated car as wind noise can easily cover this up. My grandmothers car (a Nissan Maxima) the rear tires drive me nuts. Why do the big tires on huge trucks make that whirrrring sound?
MN~MKK, cuz the grooves in the tires when they're turning all the air pressure gets trapped and released as the tires turn hence the noise...
umm idk whatta u think prob the tread gripping the road or maybe the weight yea the tread

When you lift a truck do you need new tires?

I am currently looking into buying a truck but my only problem is that it has a lift on it but the original tires. Is this bad for the truck? If I were to replace the tires would i then have to replace shocks, struts, etc...? I like the truck I'm just not sure if I want to double the price of the vehicle from extra things i'd have to do to it.When you lift a truck do you need new tires?
If the lift was done right, the shocks and such will not need to be replaced.

If you put over sized tires on it however the speedometer will need adjustment.

If the speedometer was adjusted to over sized tires and you use stock, you will be going much slower then you think.

So find out what has been done before buying and just get the parts to match the changes (tires that match the calibration on the speedometer.)When you lift a truck do you need new tires?
I would replace the original tires, they look too small after you lift a vehicle.... get bigger tires.

What kind of snow tires do you recommend for 06' saturn vue?

Hi, I just purchase an 06' saturn vue which came with 18" tires and chrome wheels. I'm looking for snow tires for this vue, I believe 16" tires would work from looking at other forums. I would like 18" snowtires so I could leave the chrome on but I think they might be too expensive.

If I buy the 16" do you have any recommendations and the only thing i'll need besides that is a wheel cover or am i missing something? What kind of snow tires do you recommend for 06' saturn vue?

    as mentioned tirerack

You need WHEELS if you go with a different inner diameter tire (ie 18" -%26gt; 16") Tirerack has winter wheel and tire packages.

Personnally, despite living in Illinois, Minnesota and Wyoming for most of my driving life (started in '76); I have never found the need for snow tires. What kind of snow tires do you recommend for 06' saturn vue?
