Will slightly narrower tires make a difference performance for my vehicle?

I recently put on a new set of tires. I originally had 245/70/R16's and switched to what factory is suppose to be, 235/70/R16's. The old tires were a meaty off road type of tire. I changed them cuz the noise just got old. I seem to notice that the acceleration is better and drives a hell of a lot better.|||If you went from a heavy off-road tire to a lighter street tire, you can expect better all-around performance on pavement - accelerating, braking, cornering and ride.

When accelerating, you pay twice to accelerate rotating mass, since you have to get it moving forward, and get it spinning. Braking is better for the same reason - the brakes have to turn more kinetic energy into heat.

On bumpy roads, the suspension will be more able to keep the tires on the pavement, so you'll notice better ride and cornering.

Also, the larger tire diameter changes the effective gearing ratios. It was almost like you were starting in second gear. It's not really that big a difference, but it is a similar effect.

You may notice better city gas mileage, since you won't need to use as much gas to accelerate. For highway driving, the this will be offset by the lower tire diameter.|||There is very little difference between the two tires at all, the only thing is the revs per mile will be 13.02 faster 235/70/R16's .........
