How do I put air in my car tires without damaging it?

i mean seriously i never put air in my old car since i got it, and i had it for a year. never checked the pressure and stuff.



so do i go to the gas station and fill it up? So i think i unscrew that little thingy, some how fit the air giving machine into the hole. and maybe press a button or something. i've never seen the air giving machine before.



but the question is. how do i know when i stop? how do i know when it's full. how do i know if i'm not going over... when i fill up helium ballons i just wait till it stops by itself, when it's all full to the max.

First thing is to buy a tire pressure gauge. Don't rely on the ones at the gas stations for public use.



Unscrew the cap and remove. Press the gauge on the valve stem and push it down until it doesn't leak air. Then look at the reading on the gauge. If the tire is low, then press the air nozzle down on the stem and push the fill button. Do this for about 3 seconds. Then repeat the process, this will give you a feeling for how fast the tire is filling and how long it takes to get the pressure to rise a couple of pounds of air.

Whenever you get to the proper pressure, replace the cap and you are done. good luck.

Go to the parts store and get your very own tire pressure gauge. Then go to the air station put in your 75 cents and take off the thingy(valve cap) and place the air filler upper thingy on it and apply pressure, you shouldn't hear any air leaking if you do readjust the tool on the valve stem. make it quick then place the gauge on the valve stem and slight pressure will seal it and the gauge will read an amount.

Most vehicles use around 28-32PSI you can be sure if you look on the gas cap door or on the drivers door jam it will tell you the suggested amount. use that reference to set all tires the same. You will get better mileage out of them if you also rotate them every 6,000 miles.
THe amount of psi or kpa is located at either your drivers side door (the side when you open it) or the glove box. It's a sticker. It will tell you a number. At my local service station, there should be a sign that says Air. Go to it, remove the cap off your tyre and stick the hose in the tube. The meter should read a number. If it's below the amout of psi that the sticker says, fill it up with air by holding down the trigger. You should see the tyre inflate with your very own eyes.
