Could have different tires cause a problem?

I Just bought a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix. It has 4 different kinds of tires. Goodyear, Michellin,Firestone etc. (all the same sizes though). Could this be a problem?|||if they werent put on brand new at the same time then it could be a problem since they dont have the same amount of tread on them|||With 4 different tires you have 4 different tread patterns, which results in 4 different rates of traction. This could be a problem braking as one tire may lock up before the others. If you have antilock brakes it would then activate them.

DIfferent tread patterns could also affect how the water gets away form the tire in the rain and you cloud hydroplane.

In best interest of safety I would get 4 matching tires as soon as I could.|||Yes it can be since each will have different amounts of wear, different handling characteristics, etc,...|||sometimes it works, and sometimes it does not, for the most part it will be fine until you go get some new tires, it should be ok in dry conditions, my guess if you were to have a problem it would be in a heavy rain situation so next time it rains practice some power stops from 30 and see if the tires all act about the same when stopping hard, if they do, then you are likely going to be ok, I have had cars like this and had no problems so that is always a possibility as well.
