I want to run some negative camber and stretched tires on my car. I was wondering how much this would effect the wear since the tire's contact patch would "not be contacting" but rather it would be riding on the sidewall. I'm just wondering how often I'd have to replace the tires because I'm in High School and I can't afford to be replacing the tires every couple thousand miles.|||First, aside from looking ridiculous, stretched tires should be illegal. They are a safety hazard, as it does not take much to unseat the bead, and blowouts are very common. There is a reason why tire manufacturers have a recommended tire width max and minimum. Outside that range, especially if the wheel is wider than the tire, is dangerous.
Second, all cars come with some modicum of negative camber from the factory, so negative camber doesn't reduce the life, excessie camber does. Too much negative camber will severely wear out the inside shoulder in the tire. I did know someone who had his civic lowered too far and didn't have an alignment...It was going through a set of tires in 5000 miles.|||Camber is not a tire wearing angle. Toe is a tire wearing angle.
